KL-Penang Via MAS

A quick journey to KL. Reached 1230pm at TBS bus station and left 735am the next day via MAS through KLIA. Not my first time flying back from KL to Penang through MAS. Anyhow the last time was around 2 years back (2011). Kind of surprised to see that MAS has brought in new Boeing model with beautiful leather seat and built-in screen for on-flight entertainment. Was watching Person of Interest Season 1, Pilot episode with no subtitles and audio. It was only a 50 minutes flight. Hence headphone was not provided.  Had their signature peanuts with apple juice :) The 2 Korean ladies sat beside me enjoyed the peanuts a lot. New design on the airplane body too.

For 6 Airbus A380 that MAS purchased, the body are painted differently, the stripes on the body are blue colour. The logo on the tail is of dark-blue which is very close to black colour. Flight was on-time. The crew that spoke over the PA system was less formal hence added a sense of friendliness.

Four Season Bakery, Straits Quay

Tart au lait- Milk Tart from Four Season Bakery at Straits Quay, Penang

Parsley bread from Four Season Bakery, with SCS salted butter, cheeder cheese and top with salami from Cold Storage
Went for a little adventure at Straits Quay, Penang after a long while. Attracted by the bakery, entered and bought some of bread and tart. Tart au lait priced RM5 per pack. A nice sweet taste of the milky filling, mild milky taste. I was hoping for stronger milky and creamy taste. Parsley bread was fine, soft, and with just nice touch of parsley. I used the bread and top it with butter and salami bought from Cold Storage. They tasted perfect. What a sinful morning.

Five27 Food Hunt

Food from Five27 at Straits Quay, Penang.
Everyday we travel, from place that we are familiar to place that we may or may not be familiar. This blog is dedicated to places i went and worth to write something about.

Drove for more than an hour to Straits Quay, Penang today. Nothing special, merely for food. Saw the peaceful looking restaurant on ground floor, Five27. Entered and ordered their express lunch and meatball. Express lunch menu was with salmon, pork, chicken and pasta. I ordered pork and a meatball. The food was fair, as i was expecting a little more taste. Potato soup was nothing special, tasted a little bit of creme and its a bit oily. Salad was ok. They served salad, bread and dessert (cake) on tile. That was new. One thing i will give credit to is their environment. Quiet, clean and comfortable.

Pearl of Orient-Penang

I am from Penang, the Pearl of Orient. A place that full of heritage buildings. I like the nostalgic feeling that shows in many corners of Penang, especially in Georgetown, the city center.

One of the attraction of Penang, is the Temple of Goddess of mercy. Its one of the oldest temple in Penang located on Pitt street. Along the street, there is also Masjid Kapitan Keling, the oldest mosque in Penang. Beautiful architecture. Not far away is another Hindu temple. The Pitt Street is a street where 3 major religious shrine located.

Food in Ho Chi Minh City

From left to right: Coffee, baguette from Bent Coffee House, Beef Pho and KFC snack deal.
We tried out very nice baguette with roasted pork, super delicious. Crunchy baguette, juicy pork and beautifully hand crafted coffee, with unbelievable reasonable price at Bent Coffee House, Ho Chi Minh City. Their French colonization really showing influences there, I can see that from their baguette :)

Another food that must try is the Pho. The super nice clear soup of beefy rice noodle soup, with bunch of basil leaves for you to add in for obtaining the authentic exotic taste. We tried at Pho 24.

Sad thing, we gave our first meal there to KFC. Was starving after the hours of bus journey and wanted something with fixed price after the lesson from the taxi driver who conned us. Its was normal, but the waiters there can't even understand basic English.
