Sweet basil

My sprouting sweet basil in peat pot.
From my visit to Hatyai, southern town of Thailand with some good friends 3 years ago, i brought back sweet basil seeds from their local grocery store. Planted and was growing well until it got infested with some kind of plant disease. The leafs I used to make tea and it helped very much with mouth ulcer i once had.

My recent visit to Hatyai, i was determined to get again those seeds. After walking in the maze of their shoplots style market near Kim Yong Market. I managed to find a stall selling. So i got another packet of sweet basil. The thpe that i brought back from there three years ago was rarely seen here in Penang.

Few days ago, i got this peat pot that will swell up to become a perfect size  for germinating seeds when you submerged in water. I tried it with my basil seeds., and am happy to see the baby basil sprout coming out to say hi.

A foodie will always be a foodie as i am already thinking of dishes that i can make with this sweet basil once they are big enough.
